Students interested in researching a PhD in the Political Studies Department must have an academic background in Political Studies (either BA or MA). An MA thesis completed with an 85 and an 85 GPA are also required.

The department will examine each applicant's history to determine what additional courses, if any, will be required. Students who have completed an non-thesis track MA will have to renew their MA studies to include a thesis and complete the requirements for that degree.

Exceptional students (with a 93 GPA in their BA studies) can apply for the combined MA/PhD track. These students must complete their MA studies and doctoral dissertation proposal within 2 years.

Applicants interested in the Presidential Scholarship program should contact their office directly in the Sal Building (404) room 7.
