Dr. Clareta Treger
Research
Dr. Clareta Treger is an Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in the Department of Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University. Her research examines how partisan identities, ideology, and institutions shape citizens’ attitudes toward government and public policy. She focuses on public and elite attitudes toward government intervention, the relationship between political identities and policy preferences, and the effects of institutional design on political behavior and governance. Dr. Treger is the recipient of the Israel Science Foundation’s “Beresheet” research grant for her project, The Politics and Governance of Moral Issues (2026–2031), which examines how public values, institutions, and political elites shape trajectories of moral policy change. Her research combines surveys, experiments, and computational methods. Before joining Bar-Ilan University, she was a Lady Davis Postdoctoral Fellow at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She previously held a postdoctoral fellowship at the Policy, Elections, and Representation Lab at the University of Toronto. She received her PhD in Political Science from Tel Aviv University in 2023, and her dissertation won the Israeli Political Science Association’s Best Dissertation Award. Dr. Treger’s research has been published, int1er alia, in Political Behavior, Public Opinion Quarterly, Regulation & Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences Communications, and Research & Politics.
