Research
Ariel Zellman is a senior lecturer in the Department of Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel. His research examines the causes of violent interstate and intrastate conflict, with a particular focus on nationalism, religion, and protracted territorial disputes. His case expertise include the Middle East and former Yugoslavia as well as contemporary white nationalism in the United States. His most recent book, Religious Minorities at Risk, with Matthias Basedau and Jonathan Fox was published by Oxford University Press in 2023. He has published academic articles in American Politics Research, East European Politics, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Global Security Studies, Journal of Peace Research, Politics and Religion, Politics Religion & Ideology, Religions, Security Studies, Territory Politics Governance, Terrorism and Political Violence. At Bar-Ilan University, he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as an undergraduate seminar on nationalism and a graduate seminar on territorial politics.
